Grier offers an abundance of studio art classes taught by practicing artists and designed around the Elements and Principles of Design. Art classes are available to students at all ability levels.
Serious artists will experience higher-level courses where they further develop artistic techniques and learn to manage multiple deadlines within a nurturing environment. Students applying to top art schools work closely with their portfolio teacher and the college counselor to ensure a positive critique and favorable admissions.
Student artists are also exposed to the arts through large events arranged by Grier faculty that include:
- Museum and gallery trips both locally and to major cities like Pittsburgh, Washington D.C., and New York City.
- Visiting artists-in-residence
- Critiques from visiting college admissions representatives
