On Tuesday, May 9th, Grier students in Christine Fernandes' classes were lucky to observe a rare event in the sky: the transit of planet Mercury. The students donned special viewing equipment that allows them to safely look at the sun. From the deck of the Andrew Wilson Observatory, the students were able to safely witness the event.
Mrs. Fernandes captured an amazing photo through a special lens that shows tiny planet Mercury as a perfect circle as it passes before the sun. This event occurs about every ten years.
