Grier Alumnae Return for Reunion
Grier Alumnae and their families returned to Grier this weekend for an All-Class Alumnae Reunion organized by Grier's Director of Development, Mrs. Harriet Grier, and Grier Alumnae Coordinator, Mrs. Beverly Galloway. Roughly 120 alumnae from over seven decades of graduating classes and mulitple states converged upon the forested hills of Grier campus for a weekend full of fun, friendship, and reminiscing.
Informal social hours near guests' accommodations in both State College and Altoona kicked off the reunion weekend on Friday evening. Alumnae mingled with each other and with Dr. and Mrs. Grier. On Saturday, alumnae and their families were invited to partake in breakfast at Grier, events throughout the day, and a grand banquet that evening. Guests bid farewell following a breakfast at Grier on Sunday morning.
Saturday's events had something for everyone, from off-site outings that included golf, State College shopping, and fly fishing the Little Juniata River, to enriching experiences on campus. Among the on-campus choices, alumnae could attend a jewelry-making class, demonstrations of Grier's robotics and 3D printing lab, an equestrian exhibition, and a variety of art workshops.
While the reunion was a chance for alumnae to catch up with each other, it also provided an opportunity for alumnae to chat with former and current faculty members, administrators, and staff members from the Administrative and Business Offices. Faculty members including Mrs. Heidi Zimbler (Art), Mr. James Pingry (Photography), Ms. Monica DePaul (Riding), and Mrs. Carol Horner (Technology) led Saturday workshops and demonstrations.
Several attendees expressed praise for the reunion weekend, noting the collective effort by the Grier community to ensure its success, the delicious food prepared by Grier's Dining Services, the beautiful flowers, and general congeniality. The weekend was a delightful experience for so many people and helps fortify Grier's legacy and guarantees it a special place in the hearts of future generations of Grier girls. Grier wishes to thank all who attended the event and encourage all Grier alumnae and former students to remain in touch with the Grier Alumnae Office. Grier loves to hear from students past!
