During their unit on embryology, 7th grade students in Mrs. Fernandes' Life Sciences class incubate duck eggs. The students candle the eggs periodically to examine embryo development. Students observe the blood vessels in the yolk sack and watch for movement in the developing chick. The chicks are expected to hatch on May 12, after 26 days of incubation. Students will observe and care for the ducklings for two weeks before the ducklings find permanent homes at local farms.
