Monarch Butterflies Emerge

The first of several monarch butterflies emerged this week in Mrs. Fernandes Life Science classroom. The students observed the striped monarch caterpillars munch on leaves until they were nice and fat before they each formed a chrysalis where they could undergo the amazing metamorphosis into butterflies. Mrs. Fernandes' classes will release the monarchs into the wild so that they can journey south to Florida for the winter.
