Grier art teacher Yong Sook Kim Lambert has a work featured in an art exhibit called Forty Years of Celebrating Pennsylvania Artists currently on display at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art (SAMA) in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The exhibit celebrates SAMA's 40th anniversary and features work by Pennsylvnia's most lauded artists, including Alexander Calder. Calder, who was born in Lawnton, Pennsylvania, is well-known for his mobiles. One of his works is on display right next to a piece by our own Mrs. Lambert!
Mrs. Lambert has been a long-time member of Grier's art department faculty. She worked as a professional artist and art instructor in her hometown of Seoul, South Korea, as well as, Canada. Since joining Grier's faculty in 2001, Mrs. Lambert has taught watercolor, drawing, fiber art (weaving), and textile design (batik).
Recently, the American Watercolor Society awarded her with The Artist's Magazine and Watercolor Magic Magazine Prize and the National Watercolor Society awarded her the Monarch Litho Award. In addition to SAMA, her work is represented in private and public collections, such as Ottawa's House of Commons in the Canadian capital and Loto-Quebec's permanent collection. Additional examples of her work exist on her personal website.
