Presidential Cookie Contest to Celebrate Election Day

In honor of Election Day and the traditional cookie bake-off sponsored by Family Circle magazine, history teachers Mrs. Suzanna Long and Mrs. Keri Salyards organized a Presidential Cookie Contest during Extra Help on Tuesday.
The teachers invited students to the Auditorium during Extra Help, where they could try a free cookie from the family recipe of each major presidential candidate and vote for the best cookie.

The cookie candidates included Melania Trump's Sugar Cookies and the Clinton Family's Chocolate Chip Cookies. Mrs. Salyards and Mrs. Long did all the baking and both cookies were delicious. In fact, it is precisely because both cookies were so delicious that many students had a difficult time choosing between the two wonderful cookie candidates. The race for the winner was a close one, but ultimately, the Clinton Family's chocolate chip oatmeal cookie was the victor, with 88 votes (53.7%), while the Melania Trump's sour cream sugar cookie collected 76 votes (46.3%). What a fun way to get students excited about the U.S. presidential election!
