Students enjoyed observing a virtual night sky inside the StarLab Planetarium during Grier's December Lab Days. Science classes learned about the movements of the stars across the sky and historical interpretations of the stars' relative positions and associated constellations.
Presenters from Juniata College's Science in Motion team set up the StarLab in Grier's gymnasium. The portable StarLab Planetarium is inflated by a fan and can seat 25-35 people. The presenters used computerized night sky projects projected onto the dark dome surface from within to demonstrate different astronomy concepts.
