Sophomore Singer/Songwriter Emma H. Tugs On Our Heart Strings

In this recorded rehearsal session, singer/songwriter and guitarist Emma is joined by other members of the Grier's Rock Band. The video is produced through a special collaboration between second semester Video Production students and Recording Technology students. The Recording Technology students prepared the equipment and rehearsal space for their recording, then edited the recording to optimize its audio quality.  Video Production students filmed the session from multiple camera angles, which they then spliced together to create an interesting video. Students successfully synchronized the audio track with the video track. Finally, they added animated titles and credits to the video.

In their second semester of Video Production, students build on fundamental skills and techniques. They learn more advanced editing and production techniques, how to apply titles, and these students record school events and concerts. The end results are shared with the Grier Community on a large video monitor. 

Students in Recording Technology become familiar with digital recording equipment and editing software.  Students learn the differences among a wide variety of microphones and how to position them when recording various instruments in order to achieve a high quality recording. They edit recordings with such precision that edits are virtually undetectable. Opportunities like Rockfest present students with extensive real world experience in setting up microphones, running audio cables and programming an audio console.
