Several students enjoyed attending a recital by Grier Music faculty member, Mrs. Amanda Silliker. Accompanied by concert pianist Svetlana Rodinova, Mrs. Silliker delivered a memorable mezzo-soprano vocal performance at the Bellefonte Historical Museum on Sunday afternoon.
While the recital was free, attendees could make donations to support the Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association.
The program included an eclectic mix of pieces, including Faure, Handel and Schubert during the first half. The second half included pieces by Benjamin Britten, jazz standards set to contemporary classical accompaniments. The final set featured pieces by Jake Heggie, an American opera composer.
In addition to her own vocal accomplishments, Mrs. Silliker is an experienced voice teacher, member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and specializes in preparing high school students for careers in music. At Grier, Mrs. Siliker teaches voice lessons and serves as an advisor to Kaleidescope Club.
