Author Renee Nicholson Leads Creative Writing Workshop at Grier
Grier girls and English Department Head, Ms. Kara Lawler, packed the Grier Coffee Barn on Sunday for a creative writing workshop led by author and American Ballet Theatre (ABT®) Certified dance instructor, Renee Nicholson. This event was a continuation of Grier's Writer's Series, an English Department initiative to expose Grier students to female writers.
Nicholson was recognized by Penn State Altoona as a Fall 2011 emerging author in Fiction and Creative Nonfiction, and she currently holds a position as Assistant Professor in the Programs for Multi- and Interdisciplinary Studies at West Virginia University. Although Rheumatoid Arthritis halted Nicholson's performing career, she continues to teach dance. She is the author of numerous published stories and essays, as well as the poetry collection Roundabout Directions to Lincoln Center (Urban Farmhouse Press).
