National Merit® Commendations for Five Grier Seniors
This year, the National Merit® Scholarship Program commended five Grier students. Seniors Mary D., Jaden H., Nora V., Lilian Z., and Emily C. received the commendations in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. Mrs. Borst recently recognized these students before their peers at a School Assembly.
According to the National Merit® Schoarlship website, the program "is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships" that college-bound U.S. citizen high school students enter by taking the Preliminary SAT (PSAT) exam. This year, the National Merit® Schoarlship organization considered 1.6 million entrants, but only about 34,000 students received Letters of Commendation.
While the commendation doesn't include direct scholarship funds from the National Merit® program, it does open the door to other scholarships. Grier is very proud of these bright young women for their outstanding academic excellence.
