Grier Dance Gala 2017

A week before this year’s Gala, guest artist Jon Lehrer of Lehrer Dance worked with the dancers, teaching master classes to students at all dance levels and setting choreography with different student groups. The week of mentorship with Lehrer was followed by a Friday evening Student Showcase performance where students exhibited technique and choreography developed with Lehrer.

On Saturday and Sunday, additional guest faculty instructors, including Debbie Blunden Diggs, Kiesha Lalama, Roni Koresh, Whitney Moncrief, Darrel Grand Moultrie, Brice Mousset, Melissa Rector, and Yarden Ronnen-Van Herren offered workshops from 9:00am-2:30pm. Grier students and dancers from other studios, including some as far away as Bermuda and Mexico joined to take part in these workshops.

The Saturday evening showcase featured performances by professional dance companies that included the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, Koresh Dance Company, Lehrer Dance, Oui Danse, and Peridance Contemporary Dance Company.

Each year, the Grier Gala is a great opportunity for dancers and non-dancers to witness the art form at the highest level, audition for college-level programs, and receive a variety of scholarships. This year’s scholarships included:
